To fulfil the growing demand for seven-seater cars in India, several automakers are gearing up to launch new Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) in the country. Here’s a look at the details of 12 upcoming MPVs.
Toyota Innova HyCross Flex Fuel Hybrid
First Flex Fuel Toyota: Toyota is introducing a flex-fuel version of the Innova HyCross, expected to launch in October 2026. It will feature a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with Atkinson cycle, producing 145.4 PS and 188 Nm. Paired with an electric motor and 1.31 kWh battery pack, the system will run on E100 ethanol, thanks to Toyota's advanced hardware. The MPV is expected to retain premium features from the existing ZX hybrid variant but may come at a higher price point.
Toyota Innova HyCross Facelift
Hilux-Inspired Front Fascia: A facelift for the Toyota Innova HyCross is also in the works, likely to arrive before the end of 2026. It will boast a redesigned front fascia with a larger honeycomb grille, updated bumpers, lighting, and alloy wheels. Inside, expect larger 12.3-inch screens, improved rear comfort, enhanced ADAS features, a head-up display, and a powered co-driver's seat. The existing 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with CVT transmission is expected to continue, alongside the 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain producing 186 bhp and 206 Nm.
Maruti Suzuki Invicto Facelift
Similar Updates as Hycross: Maruti Suzuki's Invicto MPV is anticipated to receive a facelift in early to mid-2028, mirroring the updates of the Toyota Hycross. It will feature a revised grille, new bumpers, 19-inch alloy wheels, and new exterior color options. Inside, it will offer a larger infotainment screen, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, JBL audio, ventilated seats, and ottoman-style second-row seating. The 2.0-litre strong hybrid powertrain with e-CVT transmission is expected to remain unchanged.
Kia Carnival Hybrid
More Efficient Powertrain: Kia Carnival is also joining the hybrid bandwagon in India, with bookings already open for its hybrid variant. It will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine from the Sorento, producing 180 bhp and 265 Nm, paired with an electric motor. The system will be coupled with a six-speed automatic gearbox. Both the existing 2.2-litre diesel engine (193 bhp) and eight-speed auto transmission will continue. The hybrid model will be offered in the Limousine+ trim with HEV badging.
Renault Triber Turbo CNG
Reduced Running Costs: Renault's Triber MPV, already known for its 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (100 bhp, 180 Nm), is set to gain a CNG variant. The key feature will be the integration of the CNG system under the vehicle using Renault's RGEP platform, ensuring minimal impact on cargo space.
