Honda has been running a bit late in entering the electric vehicle game. While brands like Tata and Mahindra have been selling their EVs for the last couple of years, Honda is still testing its first electric vehicle for India. It is called the 0 Alpha, and Honda has officially flagged off testing of its upcoming electric SUV in India. We have seen multiple images and videos of the EV on the internet. We have now come across a new set of images that show Honda’s upcoming 0 Alpha EV being tested on broken roads.

The images, shared by Auto Intel India on its X profile, show the Honda 0 Alpha EV navigating through a rough section of the road. These visuals highlight that Honda will offer this EV with ample ground clearance suitable for Indian roads. The front and rear overhangs also appear relatively compact.

From previous test mule images, we can gather a better understanding of the SUV's design. The 0 Alpha will feature a boxy silhouette distinct from existing Honda models, resembling the concept version showcased by the company. It includes LED headlights, large black alloy wheels, a boxy rear end, an elongated side profile, and more.

The EV has a stretched-out design, giving it a station-wagon-like aesthetic. Despite Honda referring to it as a compact SUV, its design appears more spacious.

Honda is currently conducting extensive testing on various parameters, including:

  • Driving comfort and handling characteristics
  • Powertrain efficiency
  • Battery performance and durability
  • Reliability and robustness in harsh Indian conditions

The company also aims to incorporate modern features:

  • A clean-looking cabin with physical controls alongside a large touchscreen infotainment system.
  • A fully digital driver display located next to the touchscreen.
  • A three-spoke steering wheel potentially featuring a paddle shifter for regenerative braking control.
  • Seat ventilation for front seats, reminiscent of the Honda City facelift.

The 0 Alpha will offer two LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery pack options with estimated ranges between 65 kWh and 75 kWh, translating to approximately 450–500 km of real-world driving on a full charge.

Honda is testing the EV extensively across diverse terrains. The 0 Alpha is poised for launch in 2027, with production expected at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, catering to both Indian and international markets.
