After being on the sidelines for years, Honda Cars India is finally pulling its socks up, and it is getting ready to launch its first all-electric SUV for the Indian market. Currently known as the Honda 0 Alpha, the upcoming SUV will make its production-spec debut on December 2, 2026. The company is expected to reveal its final name and technical specifications at the event in December. As for deliveries, they will commence by early 2027.

Honda 0 Alpha Will Get A New Name

Before proceeding, it's important to note that the name of Honda's first electric SUV in India will not be 0 Alpha. The actual production-spec model will be receiving a brand-new name. The December 2 unveiling will unveil the official name and first proper look at the production version of the SUV.

Made In India For Global Markets

Another crucial detail about Honda's first electric SUV is that it will be manufactured at Honda's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. Interestingly, the model will not be limited to India; it's expected to be supplied to export markets as well. Honda has invested approximately Rs 1,200 crore for EV manufacturing at its Tapukara facility. India and Japan are anticipated to be among the initial two markets for the new SUV.

Honda 0 Alpha - Design Will Be Similar To The Concept

In terms of design, the production version is expected to closely resemble the concept model. This will include upright styling with a tall roofline, squared-off wheel arches, a closed-off front fascia, and sharp lighting elements. Other expected design highlights are flush door handles, front door-mounted ORVMs, and aerodynamic alloy wheels.

At the rear, the SUV is expected to feature slim LED tail lamps, an upright tailgate, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a rear wiper. The concept showcases an illuminated Honda logo and a full-width rear lighting signature; however, it remains to be seen if these elements make the cut for the production version.

Cabin And Features - Will Come Loaded To The Brim

Unlike other models in the market, Honda's 0 Alpha is poised to offer a highly modern and tech-loaded cabin. Spy shots reveal a large centrally mounted touchscreen, a separate digital instrument cluster, and a three-spoke steering wheel with multifunction controls. Physical buttons for the air-conditioning system below the touchscreen are also expected, making it easier to operate frequently used functions.

Other anticipated features include an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, navigation, and connected-car technology. Ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS could also be part of the package. Steering-mounted paddles for regenerative braking control may also be included.

Battery And Range - Over 500 Km Expected

Mechanically, Honda has not disclosed the final battery and motor specifications. However, reports suggest the production model could offer battery pack options ranging from 65 kWh to 75 kWh. These batteries are expected to provide a range of over 500 km.
