Tata’s Next Big Launch: Aeris!

The Tata Tigor has been around for some time and is now set for a major update. According to recent reports, Tata Motor will replace the Tigor with a brand-new model, instead of merely offering a facelift. An exclusive report by Zigwheels reveals that this new car will be called Aeris.
Tata Tigor Replacement: Aeris
The publication sources indicate that the Tigor will soon be replaced by the Aeris, a sub-four metre sedan based on the same platform as the Tiago (and the existing Tigor). The powertrains are expected to remain unchanged.
The Tigor nameplate was introduced in 2017, and while it has had some updates over the years, it hasn't achieved the popularity of its hatchback counterpart. Tata now aims to free the sedan from the Tigor's shadow by introducing a brand-new model with comprehensive exterior and interior changes. This new identity should help it stand on its own.
While there's a slim chance that the name "Aeris" is intended for export markets like South Africa (where the Nexon is sold as the Tata Osprey), the more likely scenario is that the sedan will introduce this new name in India.
Design of the Tata Aeris
The Aeris will retain the basic silhouette of the Tigor but will feature several redesigned exterior elements and panels.
- Front: A new bumper with a slimmer lower air dam and redesigned fog lamps, along with a slim grille finished in gloss black (similar to the Tiago).
- Headlamps: Sharper design and LED lighting.
- Rear: Significantly changed tailgate, connected LED tail lamps, and a new bumper with a sculpted design.
Features and Safety of Aeris
The Aeris is expected to receive a substantial upgrade in terms of features, including:
- A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a semi-digital driver's display.
- Cruise control, automatic climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, a wireless charger, and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.
Safety-wise, the Aeris will be equipped with six airbags across all variants, ABS, EBD, and ISOFIX mounts, but advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) may not be included.
