Mahindra Thar is a popular SUV among lifestyle vehicle enthusiasts in the country. Mahindra has sold over 4 lakh Thar SUVs in the market, and it often makes headlines. We have now come across a new video report from Kerala where cops seized two Mahindra Thar SUVs due to a peculiar registration number issue.

The video was shared by Asianet News on social media. The incident occurred in Kasaragod district, Kerala. Two SUVs, one belonging to Mr. Fakruddin and the other to Mr. Ummar Rashid, were impounded for sharing the same registration number: "KL 14 AJ 3008".

On September 12, Fakruddin parked his Thar in Kaikamba region near Uppala. A few blocks away, Ummar also parked his Thar. Youngsters passing through noticed the registration number and confirmed their suspicions. They contacted local police, leading to the seizure of the vehicles. One vehicle was found to have a fake number plate.

The report suggests that Fakruddin took out a loan from a finance firm but feared that agents would repossess his Thar if spotted. It's unclear whether he borrowed money against his Thar or used it as collateral. The similar colour and aftermarket front grilles of the vehicles made them look identical, with the actual registration number visible on the front windshield of Fakruddin’s Thar.

Fakruddin's decision to park both SUVs side by side led to his discovery. While police investigate whether he told the truth or had other motives, they also found that he drove recklessly, endangering other road users.

The owner of the vehicle with the fake plate was booked under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for reckless driving and under Sections 128, 192, and 39 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
